The Millar Family

January 2010

Happy New Year! Hope you all had a great start to the year and that it continues that way.
We had a lovely time at Christmas and, despite missing family and friends, managed to really relax and enjoy a few days off work/school together as a family. Christmas day was warm and Sunny – how different from the UK. Christmas dinner was lamb a la BBQ, cooked by Barry! So much quicker and easier than Turkey et al!
New Year was celebrated on Glenelg Beach with some pretty amazing fireworks at midnight! The following day we went with some friends to “Crystal Lake” Campsite for a two night “holiday”. It was so strange to come home from that “summer break” to find the Christmas decorations still up!
Paul has been accepted for his TAFE course which will be starting shortly. Funnily enough he has decided to do web design! No surprise there then.
Laura has a part-time Saturday job at Fiona’s pharmacy, but has been working weekdays through the summer holidays so she can go to the beach with her mum at weekends!
Barry had a few weeks “in charge” of the power station he works in as everyone more senior than him had a long Christmas break. Thankfully everything went smoothly despite some really hot days (40C plus) and huge power demands.
Fiona has signed up to do a certificate IV in management course, which has been funded by her work. Should be a busy year studying, yet again!
David is just the same as always, except bigger. Predict he will eventually be the tallest Millar (he’s not far off Paul and Barry at 13!)

We have also purchased a little bit of land in Chandlers Hill (about 10 mins away from our current house). Plans are currently with council, but we should be building on the site by about May. It should be complete by December and we are looking forward to having a guest room and friends to visit soon!
